Welcome to the sixth edition of the Lucignano Music Festival!

 

From 23 to 26 September 2026, we invite you to join us on a journey through “The Golden Age.”

The theme of this edition brings together three extraordinary craft traditions: lutherie, symbol of the excellence achieved by European musical craftsmanship during the golden period of Antonio Stradivari; Arezzo’s goldsmithing tradition, preserved and celebrated in Lucignano’s magnificent Albero d’Oro (Tree of Life); and the Tuscan tradition of extra virgin olive oil, a cultural heritage protected by the IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) designation and represented here by the award-winning local producer Frantoio 5 Colli.

This year too, the Festival renews its international vocation, welcoming world-renowned musicians and young talents from different countries. For the first time in Lucignano, the Festival will host an artist-in-residence: composer and jazz saxophonist Daniel Schnyder, who will lead a highly exclusive, strictly limited masterclass exploring the relationship between classical music and jazz, with a focus on compositional style, improvisation techniques and the possibilities of bringing different musical languages into dialogue.

The musical programme spans eras and styles: from the timeless music of Schubert to Bruckner’s unmissable Adagio, from the Hollywood glamour of Korngold to works by Beethoven, and from Boccherini’s Fandango to the Fandango of contemporary composer Alessandro Molinelli.

The journey will be completed by a special open-air screening of Charlie Chaplin’s The Gold Rush, presented in the 4K restoration by the Cineteca di Bologna, marking the centenary of its original release in 1925.

On Saturday morning, the Festival will also host a special encounter at the Museum of Lucignano’s Albero d’Oro, exploring the relationship between art, craftsmanship, value and investment. Luthier Davide Cortesi will introduce us to the Golden Period of Antonio Stradivari, while Jürg Dähler, founder of TonArt and active for more than thirty years in the international market for stringed instruments, will explore the evolution of their value over time and their potential as an investment. In dialogue with experts in Arezzo’s goldsmithing tradition, the event will also offer an opportunity to discover the secrets of gold craftsmanship and the history of Lucignano’s Albero d’Oro, a unique masterpiece and enduring symbol of the town.

Concerts, education, cinema and artistic heritage thus become the stages of a single journey through memory and invention, material and sound, craftsmanship and creativity, inviting us to discover what makes a work truly precious and timeless.

Quinta Stagione APS, the organisation behind the Festival, also continues its mission of cultural awareness and education through a programme of activities for the local community, developed in collaboration with primary and secondary schools, music schools and academies, and the local care home. These initiatives extend the Festival beyond the concert hall, creating opportunities for different generations to encounter and engage with music, and making musical culture a vehicle for participation, education and shared experience.
