Francesco Sica
Violin
Francesco Sica was born in Catania, Italy. He began violin lessons at the age of seven and graduated with honors. He then completed postgraduate studies with Professor Felice Cusano at the Academy of the Fiesole School of Music. He also studied chamber music at the Reina Sofia Institute in Madrid with Professor Ralf Gothoni.
Francesco is the violinist of the Monte Piano Trio and the Gémeaux Quartet, which, in addition to a successful radio recording career on WDR, SWR, HR, BR, and Deutschlandfunk, has performed at London's Wigmore Hall, Kings Place, Conway Hall, Tonhalle Zurich, and the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg. He has appeared at numerous major festivals, including the Schleswig-Holstein, Osnabrück Chamber Music Festival, the Mozart Festival in Würzburg, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommen Festival, the Heidelberg Spring Festival, and the Constella Festival in the United States, among others. In 2015, he began collaborating with GENUIN ("Da una tenera età" was Stereo's CD of the Month and Fono Forum's recommendation of the month). His second CD, "Tryptich," was released in 2017. He has also performed with the orchestra, including as concertmaster of the first violins at the Staatsorchester Darmstadt.
Francesco is artistic director of the "MusiKulinarium" chamber music festival on Lake Constance.
As a soloist, Francesco has won prizes in several national and international competitions, including the prestigious "Città di Vittorio Veneto" competition in 2007. Numerous masterclasses have complemented his training, including with Ivry Gitlis, Günter Pichler, Menahem Pressler, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Eberald Feltz, Daniel Rowland, Stephan Milenkovich, Enrico Dindo, Sergey Girshenko, Valentin Erben, and Niklas Schmidt.
