Jürg Dähler, born in Zurich, has an international career as a violinist, violist, pedagogue, and chamber musician. He studied with Sándor Végh, Christoph Schiller, Pinchas Zukerman, Kim Kashkashian, and Fyodor Drushinin. His artistic path was profoundly influenced by encounters with Brenton Langbein, Heinz Holliger, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, and György Ligeti. He has performed in Vienna, Salzburg, Paris, Madrid, London, Sydney, and Lucerne.

Between 1985 and 2000, he was the first violin of the legendary ensemble Kammermusiker Zürich. In 1993, he was a founding member of the Collegium Novum Zürich, and in 1999, he co-founded and co-directs the Swiss Chamber Concerts. Since 1993, he has served as principal violist of the Musikkollegium Winterthur and is a member of the Winterthur Quartet.

After founding and directing the Grisons-based festival Kultur Herbst Bündner Herrschaft from 1995 to 2002, he created the Pfingstfestival at Brunegg Castle in 2015, which he continues to direct. In 2007, he earned the academic title EMAA: Executive Master in Arts Administration from the University of Zurich.

He has taken part in the world premieres of hundreds of works as a soloist or chamber musician, by composers such as Heinz Holliger, Hans Werner Henze, György Ligeti, Arvo Pärt, Friedrich Cerha, Fyodor Drushinin, Michael Polglase, Hermann Haller, Peter Bodman-Rae, Michael Käser, Rudolf Kelterborn, Ernst Helmuth Lehmann, Eric Gaudibert, Alfred Brinken, and Daniel Schnyder.

Since 2000, he has also been active in the sale and acquisition of fine instruments through his business TonArt Jürg Dähler. He plays a violin by Antonio Stradivari (Cremona, 1714) and a viola by Raffaele Fiorini (Bologna, 1893).
