Martina Santarone

Viola

 

Martina Santarone began studying viola with Maestro Luca Sanzò at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome, where she graduated with honors. Since 2014, she has continued her studies with Maestro Bruno Giuranna at the Walter Stauffer Academy in Cremona and the Accademia Chigiana in Siena.

In 2019, she won the "Francesco Geminiani Prize," thanks to which she plays a 1986 Mario Capicchioni viola. She has received several awards, including the "Laura Borbone" scholarship (2010), the "Listen 2.0" scholarship offered by the Fondazione Pistoiese Promusica (2016), the "Davide Gaetano D'Accolti" scholarship from the "Associazione Percorsi" (2017), and first prize in competitions such as the "Premio Crescendo," "Urania," the "Young Talents" music competition promoted by the Rotary Club of Rome, the "Jacopo Fanfani" competition, and the "Valerio Marchitelli" competition.

As a chamber musician, she has performed several times at the Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona, collaborating with musicians such as Edoardo Zosi and Antonio Meneses, and was invited by Robert McDuffie to play at the Rome Chamber Music Festival. She was chosen by Salvatore Accardo to play in the Italian Chamber Orchestra, performing at the Teatro Eliseo in Rome and the Cariplo Foundation in Milan.

She has performed as a soloist with the Abruzzese Symphony Orchestra, with members of the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia at the Aula Magna of Roma Tre University, and with the orchestra of the Liceo Musicale Farnesina at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève.

She is a member of the Werther Quartet (Misia Iannoni Sebastianini, violin, Martina Santarone, viola, Simone Chiominto, cello, Antonino Fiumara, piano), founded in 2016. She specialized at the Fiesole School of Music and the "Arrigo Boito" Conservatory with the Trio di Parma, with whom she earned a Master's degree in Chamber Music with top marks, honors, and honorable mention. The quartet has performed at prestigious venues and festivals, including the International House of Music in Moscow, the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the "Società Umanitaria" concert hall in Milan, the Unione Musicale in Turin, and the Bologna Festival. Its activities are supported by the "Associazione Musica con le Ali."

 

Martina Santarone is currently completing her studies at the Bern University of the Arts in the class of Maestro Patrick Jüdt.
