Tango Dancers

 

Mauro Zompa began studying dance as a child with his parents, who were dance teachers. He continued his studies in partner dance and modern dance until 1986, when choreographer Franco Miseria selected him to join the RAI dance troupe for various programs of the time. He has always worked as a dance instructor in Italy and abroad, having obtained a teaching qualification in standard, Latin, jazz, and Argentine tango from the National Association of Dance Teachers. He has also served on various technical and examining committees for the training of dance teachers within the ANMB. In 1997, he became an international judge, participating as a juror in numerous competitions. In the same year, he began to deepen his study of Argentine tango by attending seminars and workshops with the best artists in Buenos Aires. In 2006, he and his partner Sara Masi won the national Argentine Tango selections, representing Italy at the World Championships in Buenos Aires. They remain the best Italian and European dancers ever, having reached the finals five times and finished fourth overall in 2009 and 2011. In 2010, they published the book Tango, which is still used as a textbook by various professional associations. They are currently the artistic directors of the International Academy of Argentine Tango (AITA), where they train instructors and issue diplomas recognized by CONI.
