Sergio Aloisio Rizzo is a guitarist, born in Palermo and currently based in Florence. After receiving a classical music education at a very young age, he devoted himself entirely to the study of jazz and improvised music. His academic journey—spanning the Koninklijk Conservatorium (The Hague, Netherlands) and the prestigious Siena Jazz University—allowed him to refine his skills under the guidance of renowned teachers such as Roberto Cecchetto, Martijn Van Iterson, Reinier Baas, and Eric Ineke, among others.
At the same time, he developed a strong interest in the world of gypsy jazz, collaborating with prominent figures from the national and international scene, including Jacopo Martini, Wawau Adler, Adrian Holovaty, Lollo Meier, Rares Morarescu, Dario Napoli, and the Pacora Trio.
In the jazz field, he has had the opportunity to perform in renowned jazz clubs and festivals such as: Torrione Jazz Club – Ferrara, Bimhuis – Amsterdam, Umbria Jazz Festival, UnTubo Jazz Club – Siena, Blue Note – Nové Mesto nad Váhom, Slovakia, and the Pennabilli Django Festival. He has also played alongside some of the most respected musicians, including Ares Tavolazzi, Stefano “Cocco” Cantini, Nico Gori (with whom he is a regular member of the Nico Gori Young Lyons Quartet), Francesco Ciniglio, Walter Paoli, Fabrizio Bosso, Alessandro Lanzoni, Maurizio Giammarco, Hermon Mehari, Enrico Morello, and Gabriele Evangelista, among others.
